BREAKING: Trump Responds To The Death Of Otto Warmbier

President Trump responded Monday evening to news that Otto Warmbier had died following a brain injury during his detainment in North Korea.

Warmbier was returned to the U.S. after an 18-month detainment in a comatose state.

Check it out (per Daily Caller):

“Melania and I offer our deepest condolences to the family of Otto Warmbier on his untimely passing.  There is nothing more tragic for a parent than to lose a child in the prime of life,” Trump said in an official statement.  “Our thoughts and prayers are with Otto’s family and friends, and all who loved him.”

The President continued:

Trump said in his statement: “Otto’s fate deepens my Administration’s determination to prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency. The United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as we mourn its latest victim.”

North Korean officials claim Warmbier fell into a comatose state after coming down with a case of botulism not long after he began his sentencing.

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in North Korea for stealing a propaganda poster from a hotel wall.

American officials doubt the story of botulism that North Korea has offered, but the circumstances surrounding Warmbier’s brain injury remain largely unknown.
