President Donald Trump‘s first full Cabinet meeting on Monday featured nearly every member present absolutely fawning over the Commander in Chief.
The footage of over-the-top praise session has been the subject of ridicule on several networks, on social media, and even on Capitol Hill.
The panel assembled on The Situation Room weighed in with their take on Monday, and they were totally on board with the consensus that the display was ridiculous, if not disturbing.
“This was beyond a photo op,” said Gloria Borger.
Bianna Golodryga of Yahoo added:
“It reminds me of the opposite reason as to why my parents brought me to this country from the former Soviet Union. Their leaders were forced to do that. The difference here is, they are not forced to do that, and you could see how uncomfortable the cabinet was in having to dole out these accolades. It was something you don’t do or bestow upon a 5 year old, much less the President of the United States.”
And Phil Mudd, former CIA and FBI Deputy Director, made a pretty blunt comparison.
“That looked like a Soviet-style meeting,” Mudd said.
